Baltimore Public Markets Corporation leases spaces at the Avenue, Broadway, Hollins,
Northeast and Cross Street Markets. The following  documentation is required in order to
process your application for space:

A.  Starting a New Business
Submit the following required items:
A completely filled out application must be submitted (SEE BELOW).

Two years of financial information: copies of most recent tax returns OR  
business/personal financial statements along with a  copy of your most current bank
statement.

Additional items needed after approval of your proposal:
A copy of business organizational documents if not operating as a sole
proprietorship.

A notarized statement that you have not been involved in any bankruptcy
proceedings in the past three years.

A security deposit of up to three months rent and the first month’s rent will be
required at lease signing.

A set of building plans are required.  (See Market Rules & Regulations)  

Before any licensed contractor can begin work on your stall they must provide proof
of liability insurance in the amount of $1,000,000.Baltimore Public Markets
Corporation and the Mayor City Council of Baltimore must be listed as Additional
Insured before construction can begin.

Tenant must provide proof of liability insurance coverage (minimum limit
$1,000,000) within 15 days of lease agreement. Baltimore Public Markets Corporation
and the Mayor City Council of Baltimore must be listed as Additional Insured.

Copies of all licenses and permits to operate your business within 30 days of lease
signing. (Example - Sales Tax License, Trader’s License, Food Permit, etc.)


B. Purchase of an Existing Establishment (the purchase must be approved by BPMC
Management:
Submit the following required items:
The  application form must be filled out completely and submitted along with a letter
of intent stating the business you are interested in purchasing, the Market the
business is located in, the purchase price of the business and your personal
information including name, address and phone number.

Two years of financial information of the purchaser, copies of tax returns and         
business/personal financial statements along with a copy of your most current bank
statement.

A letter from the current merchant stating their desire to sell their business,
including a request for the termination of their lease agreement with the Corporation
so that the sale can proceed.  


Additional items needed after BPMC Management approval:

A copy of business organizational documents if not operating as a sole
proprietorship.

A notarized statement that you have not been involved in any bankruptcy
proceedings in the past three years.

A certificate from a licensed electrician certifying that all electrical components
meetspecifications and codes.

A certificate from a licensed plumber certifying that all drains are running freely and
grease traps are working properly.

A security deposit of up to three months rent and the first month’s rent will be
required at lease signing.

Proof of liability insurance coverage (minimum limit $1,000,000) within 15 days of
lease agreement.

Copies of all licenses and permits to operate your business within 30 days of lease
signing.

If changes will be made to the existing business site, a set of plans will be required.  
Plans must include top and side views, a detailed floor plan indicating placement of
all equipment with dimensions (See Market Rules & Regulations).  The plans also
must include construction material approval from the Baltimore Public Markets
Corporation. Plans for food handling operations must be submitted to the City of
Baltimore, Health Department, Plans Review Section located on the 2nd floor of 210
Guilford Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21202.  Please  call 410-396-4544 for an appointment
